POEM- THERE WERE NO GROWNUPS IN THAT ROOM

Poem - There were no grown ups in that room

Someday back really really ago
days and nights when difference wasn't a much of a thought to
Speaking anything without me having to make a sense of
Crying laughing giggling at my gibberish and
Papa watching news and me eating
From his plate and you telling me
To recite the alphabet and show how good i can be
And then everybody would clap.
Really really loud
Seeing this my heart would flutter
Eyes wide, lips wide, teeth still anew
I would dance and i would clap
Like i did the thing no one else can ever can
Jumping through the house
You warning me about the mess I'm causing now
You would run after me
Trying to chase as if I'm some wanted mischief
If i get tired and then get caught
I would be passed onto papa's lap where there's no escape from
The news still going
But there's nothing new
I might still be eating from his plate
Him playing with me
And you watching us
It was different back then
We all were very young
There were so many grownup things to do
But fortunately
there were no grown ups in that room
